Fantasy No. 2 from Fünf kleine Fantasien über Weihnachtslieder (Op. 74) by Jan Hans Sitt was originally written for violin and piano. It is based on the Christmas tunes Stille Nacht and Altböhmisches Weihnachtslied. This arrangement includes separate parts for C flute and the piano accompaniment. Sitt was a Bohemian violinist, violist, teacher and composer; born in Prague, son of a Hungarian-born violin player. From 1884 to 1921 he was Professor of Violin at the Leipzig Conservatory. His enduring arrangement for piano duet of Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Dances Op. 35 was written in 1881.
