This Fullscore sheet music edition is a free-to-download arrangement for piano of the beautiful song, Morgen!, No. 4 from 4 Lieder by Richard Strauss (1864-1949)

Richard Strauss wrote Morgen! (Tomorrow!) as No. 4 for 4 Lieder (Op. 27) in 1894. Ooriginally written as a solo song for soprano and piano, he also orchestrated the piece in 1897. Max Reger wrote an arrangement for solo piano, on which this arrangement is based; some of the pedalling, note distribution between hands and stem directions have been edited from Reger's edition, for easier reading and playing.

It is a sublime, heart-touching song that has been exquisitely recorded by many of the great singers, from Dame Janet Baker, Felicity Lott, Jessye Norman, Gundula Janowitz, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Renee Fleming and Joyce DiDonato to Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quastoff and many more.

Hear this piece beautifully played as a lyrical, solo piano arrangement by Franco-Moldavian pianist Alissa Zoubrritski, from her 2020 album Transcriptions lyriques:

Original German song lyrics by John Henry McKay:

Und morgen wird die Sonne wieder scheinen

Und auf dem Wege, den ich gehen werde,

Wird uns, die Glücklichen, sie wieder einen Inmitten dieser sonnenatmenden Erde ...

Und zu dem Strand, dem weiten, wogenblauen,

Werden wir still und langsam niedersteigen,

Stumm werden wir uns in die Augen schauen,

Und auf uns sinkt des Glückes stummes Schweigen ...

[A free translation:]

And tomorrow the sun will shine again

And on the path that I shall take

It will unite us, lucky ones, again

As all around us the earth breathes in the sun

Slowly and quietly we will climb down to the broad beach and the blue waves.

In silence, we will gaze into each other's eyes

And the mute stillness of happiness will sink upon us.
